If the Water Remembers is in three short movements, I. “Green Lakes, New York,” II. “Lower Tazimina Lake, Alaska,” and III. “Indian River, Delaware.” Each body of water has special significance. In the same summer of 2023, Ryan kayaked with friends and loved ones at each location. Green Lakes was the first place Ryan kayaked since he moved from family in Delaware, some of which are passionate fishers living on the Indian River. Ryan’s adventurous nature found him in Alaska, kayaking for inspiration at one of the most remote lakes in the world. Each movement is an interpretation of these places, wondering if the water remembers the memories that were made there.
